Radcot 2007
What an eventful weekend!!!!! We raised £834.35 for CALM A big thank you to you all from your committee.
As you are aware the venue had to be changed due to the Cricket Bat field being flooded. After much work by our Secretary an alternative was found, that being The Swan at Radcot, which turned out to be perfect if a little damp under foot. Our thanks to Alan and his wife for allowing us to use the field. It looks probable that we will use this field in future. The main reason for this is that there are no tree stumps in the way and we will have the whole field to ourselves. The other contributing factor is the gentleman who runs the Cricket Bat field being, shall we say to be kind,is a complete jobsworth. He even stopped our memberes from visiting Freddy Desmond who was in the Cricket Bat Field for a a weeks holiday. To be honest this guy is a typical playground bully.

On Thursday we put up the Party Tents and Gazebos. We then got the bar working and at about 11pm were stood with a pint admiring our work and saying how nice it looked. Then, well all hell broke loose, the wind turned into a gale and everything was literally blown away.
We woke up on Friday morning and faced a right mess. However on close inspection all was not lost and with a trip to Reading to replace most things we staterd again and by 8pm the place looked as good as new. We must say a big thank you to those of you who helped, you know who you are. Friday evening entertainment was provided by Steve who had kindly offered his services free of charge and was joined by his mate Arthur |
